We hope to have many great years at future conferences and hope to see you there! My name’s Pedro and I’ve taken over updates on this site where I’ll report on the field on Toxicology as often as I can. I hope you enjoy my writings and wish you the best!
Toxicologia is the Spanish word for Toxicology, which is the branch of biology, chemistry, and medicine that covers the study of the effects of chemicals on the body. Especially pertinent are poisonings and how certain chemicals affect human biological functions.
The study of Toxicology was first introduced by Dioscroides, at least as far as we know, who was a roman chemist and worked to classify the toxic effects of plants on the human body.
Toxicology has come a long way since then and many scientists and toxicologists have come and gone, making their marks on the field. The early 1800s was when modern toxicology first came to be and it was brought around by Mathieu Orfila, who published a book on the topic in 1813.
Later on the 19th century, other toxicologists like Jean Stas and Theophrastus Phillipus Auroleus Bombastus von Hohenheim (quite a name!) took the science even further. The latter of the two coined the idea that all things are poison; it is only the dosages that really make the difference.
This relationship between dose and effects has been a long-standing maxim in Toxicology and one of the principal ideas of the field. Under the right dosages, even water is toxic. As simple as this idea seems, early toxicologists didn’t think about substances and their interactions with the human body in this way.

The Field of Toxicology
Toxicology is a broad field that encompasses a number of subdisciplines, including taxicogenomics, environmental toxicology (a field very popular today), forensic toxicology, aquatic toxicology, and medical toxicology.
The field of Toxicology is very broad indeed and covers a wide variety of applications, subjects, and disciplines. It’s very important that the study of the effects of toxins on the human body, as well as on animals and the environment grows so that we may better understand ourselves and the world we live in.
There are magical and dangerous things out there and it’s fascinating to learn about them, both to protect ourselves and our fellow animals, but also to better understand the effects we as a people have on the world we live in.
The BIOS of the computer starts when the PC’s power supply is switched on and the CMOS program also begins along with this.
